Just as the general election has been announced, Labour MP for Manchester Rusholme started his election campaign by visiting WHGS Sixth Form.
Law and Politics students got to meet their local MP and ask lots of questions. Afzal was very impressed with WHGS student interests in politics and the range of questions they asked. Questions varied from his favourite food (Biryani) and his most memorable experiences, to more grilling questions regarding Gaza, as well as his opinions on past and current leaders of the Labour party.
Students respected Afzal Khan’s warm, open and honest responses to their questions. His visit has inspired students to research work experience opportunities that MP Khan supports, as well as volunteer in the upcoming general election campaign.
