To celebrate Diwali, the Food & Nutrition Department ran a Cooking Club. Students were given the chance to experience Diwali celebration dishes, chickpea curry and parathas.

All the students contributed in preparing these delicious dishes, which they all then enjoyed together at the end of the session.

In memory of the 177 members of the school community who lost their lives in World War I and II, students designed bunting flags.

The flags were displayed in the Forum on Friday 11 November, whilst the school observed a two minute silence and Mrs Goodier played the Last Post, in remembrance of the armed forces who have died in the line of duty. 

On Thursday 10 November, Manchester United Academy hosted their very first Emerging South Asian Talent Football Festival as part of their ‘All Red All Equal’ initiative.

On Tuesday 8 November, the Food & Nutrition Department held the first interhouse Masterchef Competition of the year.  Students made a great mix of tasty savoury and sweet dishes.  

On Thursday 3 November, a group of our Year 7 girls played their first ever football fixture at Didsbury High.

On Monday afternoon, a group of our Year 7 students were invited to meet prizewinning author, Sally Nicholls, and hear her talk about her latest book 'Out of the Rubble'...  

On Wednesday 2 November, 20 students from Year 7 to Year 9 went on a Boy2Men trip to watch Manchester City play Sevilla in the Champions League.

October was Black History Month and WHGS Secondary Phase and Sixth Form marked it with a wide array of activities inside and outside of the classroom. Here is a snapshot of some of the fantastic themed lessons that have taken place:

Student secures place to read Natural Sciences at Cambridge University 

Students and staff at William Hulme’s Grammar School (WHGS) in Manchester are celebrating today as Sixth Formers receive their A Level results.  Over 75% of entries achieved A*-C grades with over a fifth achieving the top A*-A grades.
