As part of the Primary Phase's Forest School programme, Year 3 travelled to Delamere Forest to implement the skills they developed with Miss Doherty during this half term.

This half term, Year 2 have been exploring Plant Growth in Science. We explored what a seed is and the different parts of a seed.

Our Primary Phase Rights Respecting Ambassadors recently organised and led a successful foodbank donation initiative to support those in need within our community. Thanks to the generosity of our school families, we were able to donate enough food to provide 350 meals!

On Tuesday 8 October, we welcomed our friends from Henshaws, who were serenaded by Year 7 Djembe Drummers, our Year 9 band performing 'Billy Jean', as well as our Year 10 band performing 'You Give Love A Bad Name'.

On Friday 4 October, we had a fantastic team performance by our Year 10/11 Boys team at the Indoor Athletics Championships at Sports City. 

On Friday 20 and 27 September, a number of Key Stage 3 students represented WHGS in the Manchester Schools Cross Country event run by TeamMcr.

Students and staff are celebrating today after our Sixth Formers received an excellent set of A Level results.

After months of rehearsals, on Wednesday 17 July, Year 6 finally performed their end of year production, The Jungle Book, the story of a boy who goes on a great adventure through the jungle to defeat the tiger Shere Khan.

On Saturday 13 July, the Manchester Achievement Awards 2024 took place at Gorton Monastery.  The event celebrated the achievements of students who have excelled in different areas during the last academic year. 

On Tuesday 9 July, Year 6 pupils met some of their new English teachers, who taught a lesson based on the Daedalus and Icarus.

On Tuesday 9 July, Year 6 were lucky enough to be invited by the secondary Science Department to take part in an interactive Biology session.

Year 6 showed great respect when they visited Manchester Cathedral recently. This term in Religious Education (RE) lessons, pupils have been considering the key question of what is more important to religious people, architecture or charity.

The Music Department hosted a wonderful Summer Concert in the Great Hall to a very supportive audience of parents, students, friends and staff.

On Tuesday 9 July, we welcomed friends from Henshaws, who joined us to celebrate our last meeting of the year with a buffet, brilliant conversation and music.

On Saturday 6 July, talented students from Years 8-12, were invited by One Education music service to perform at the prestigious Band on The Wall, as part of a Summer Festival.

On Saturday 11 May, talented students from Years 8-12, performed as part of RNCM 'Young Artists' at Contact Theatre.

Our final Culture Day of this academic year was a resounding success! Each Phase enjoyed lunchtime with a DJ, adding to the vibrant atmosphere.

This half term, Year 4 immersed themselves in their History learning with a visit to the Pankhurst Centre in Manchester. This historic visit provided them with a unique opportunity to step back in time and delve into the inspiring life of Emmeline Pankhurst, right from the house where she initiated the suffragette movement.

Throughout this academic year, our Subject Ambassadors have been a model of excellence across the Primary Phase. They have worked on numerous projects to help to promote and develop their subject area.
