Here at William Hulme's, we have been supporting Mental Health Awareness Week (MHAW).

On Wednesday 17 May, the Primary Phase celebrated National Numeracy Day.

This term we held the Year 7 Masterchef Competition. It was a lovely evening with a keen group of Year 7 participants.

On Wednesday 17 May, Year 7 students took part in a Squash Activators Session. During the event, the PSA Foundation partnered with England Squash and Manchester City Council, to engage with hundreds of school children and members of the public, who had the opportunity to play with a squash coach on the mini-courts and earn a free taster session at a local squash facility. 

This year, Miss Bretherton has been running a rowing initiative with her Year 8 students. This unique schools’ rowing project was launched in Warrington in 2016, to give disadvantaged students the opportunity to row.

On Sunday 14 May at 4.00pm, WHGS music students took to the 'Band on the Wall' stage to perform original compositions and covers in front of a sellout crowd. 

The last Sixth Form House Competition of the year was Rounders, held on Friday 5 May.

Our Key Stage 3 students came together to cook and celebrate Eid. Students were joined by a guest chef to create a fantastic chickpea and potato curry with garlic flatbreads. 

For the first time, the Music Department hosted a Sixth Form and Upper School Musical Showcase in the Performing Arts Centre, to a very supportive staff and students.

On Friday 5 May 2023, we celebrated the Coronation of His Majesty The King Charles III.

We have been celebrating the festival of Eid in the Primary Phase.

On Thursday 20 April 2023, we celebrated Stephen Lawrence Day at WHGS. The day began with a heart-warming assembly delivered by Ruth Ibegbuna (Founder of RECLAIM, Rekindle and The Roots Programme) about Stephen’s life.

Teams 'CCRG', 'Rhythm of Soul' and 'Loud and Proud' have created three fabulous Podcasts for you to listen to.

As part of their last unit of coursework, our wonderful Music Technology class in Year 11 are producing three Podcasts.

As part of this year’s Great British Spring Clean, our Secondary Executive Council and Smart School Council carried out litter picks on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays during the weeks of 17-31 March 2023. 

Work Experience took place during the week beginning Monday 27 March for our Year 10 students. Placements were with local businesses and within school for the students to utilise key skills and see a working environment first-hand.

On Thursday 30 March, we hosted our first Iftar in the Sixth Form Centre. The atmosphere was electric and the students led the event perfectly.

On Tuesday 28 March 2023, a group of Year 8 students were involved in a 'Familiarisation Visit' to the University of Manchester, as part of the Gateways Programme.

This term's Reward Celebration was facilitated by Odd Arts Theatre Company. Our Year 7 to Year 9 students, who were star/gold recipients had the opportunity to watch an Odd Arts play called ‘Knockout Blow’.
