Tuesday 25 February 2025
Tuesday 25 February, saw a group of our Year 5 pupils travel to the Coop Live Arena to perform as part of a massed choir of almost 8,000 students. We have been rehearsing every week since September and had learned a number of exciting songs and dance routines.
This year's concert was especially exciting, as this is the first time we have sung in the Coop Live Arena since it opened - and it got a massive thumbs up from us!
The show was the usual blend of medleys (Lets Dance! Pop Medley 25, songs from Hairspray) popular favourites (Try Everything, Lean on Me, Birdhouse in Your Soul) and original music composed specifically for this choir (Get Loud! Oceana).
We also had guest appearances from a range of performers including MC Grammar - an award-winning teacher and rapper Jacob Mitchell, who is a social media sensation; Tommy Blaze - the lead singer of Strictly Come Dancing, and Souparnika Nair a 15 year old vocalist who had her big break on Britain's Got Talent. We were also treated to additional performances from the Urban Strides street dance collective, who wowed us with their amazing moves. All this accompanied by a full band of amazing performers and backing vocalists.
It was an exciting - but long - day, and one which one pupil described as his "best day ever" - certainly one which they will never forget!
