Year 2 enjoyed a fascinating class trip to Elizabeth Gaskell House, where they stepped back in time to explore the Victorian era.
The trip to Elizabeth Gaskell House links directly to Manchester’s rich local history. Elizabeth Gaskell lived in Manchester during a time of significant industrial growth and social change. By visiting her home, pupils learned about her contributions to literature and how she highlighted issues such as poverty and inequality, which were central to Manchester’s development.
The children toured the beautifully restored rooms, learning about Elizabeth Gaskell’s life and her famous works. They participated in engaging activities, such as writing with quills and discovering how people lived during the 19th century.
The trip was both educational and inspiring, sparking curiosity about history and literature.
