Monday 30 January 2023
On Monday our KS2 Choir had the opportunity to perform as part of a choir of 8807 children from all over the North West and Wales, as part of the 2023 Young Voices Concert series.
This is the fourth time we have participated and there is simply nothing like it!
Sixteen of our wonderful singers, ranging from Years 3-6, travelled into Manchester to perform at this illustrious venue. The performance itself was outstanding, even after a gruelling 3-hour rehearsal they were the perfect ambassadors for our school. Without exception, the pupils sang, danced and beatboxed their way through a varied programme.
They participated with the amazing Urban Dance Collective, joined the frankly mind-blowing skills of the Beatbox Collective and even sang with Heather Small on her new charity recording of “Proud”.
The concert also played host to some amazing vocalists and instrumentalists as part of the Young Voices band, and the performance of Anna Phoebe on the violin was possibly one of the highlights of my career so far... I've never seen an electric violin take on a band and beatbox collective before in a battle that used everything from Gangsta’s Paradise to Bach’s Toccata in D!
Although an incredibly long day, I could not be prouder of the young people in the KS2 Choir. They have demonstrated hard work, commitment and dedication, but have been rewarded with a truly memorable and unique experience.
