Homework is used to consolidate, review and revise learning. WHGS uses many online packages to assist students, such as Seneca, Bedrock and SPARX. The frequency and nature of homework is set out in the table below.
At Key Stage 3, the homework set should take one hour per week for each of English, maths and science. Other subjects run homework on a two-week cycle. Some creative subjects such as Drama and Art, run a project piece over a half-term.
At Key Stage 4 the homework in English and maths will require approximately one hour each a week. Sciences require similar for each subject, but over a two-week cycle. The option subjects require an hour of homework each week.
If students find access to computers or wifi is a barrier to completing homework then they are able to join Homework Clubs, visit the Learning Resource Centre or speak to staff in the relevant subjects and use Chromebooks at school.
